About the film:
A man struggles to cook the perfect bowl of rice under the tutelage of a stern Japanese rice master. When his repeated attempts at cooking rice fail and he’s continually rejected by the master, the man’s will is put to the ultimate test and he must face the question of what it truly takes to be a master.

About the filmmaker:
Taj Jenkins Musco is a filmmaker from New England who started making narrative films at the age of 14. His first short film "The Pizzaman" was hailed by The Boston Globe as “A cross between Domino’s and Silence of the Lambs”. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Film Production from Hampshire College where he directed "Some Mournful Bird", a short remake/update of Elia Kazan’s "On The Waterfront". He has made short films and documentaries in France, Cuba, Nicaragua, Singapore, and Pakistan, and he received a 2005 Artists Grant for Excellence in Screenwriting from the Marin County Arts Council in California. Taj is currently pursuing his Masters degree at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore. Most recently he wrote and directed the short film "Rice", the story of a man struggling to cook a perfect bowl of rice in rural Japan.
