About the Director: Director and writer, Jenna Bass, is a graduate (2007) of AFDA film school, Cape Town. At 23 years old she has worked as a music video director, cinematographer, photographer and magician. Her work has run the spectrum of music video to documentary, and in fiction from sci-fi (So Long to the City), experimental (Jellyfish), teenage coming of age (Already Gone) and historical drama (The Tunnel). Her short screenplay for The Tunnel was selected by Focus Features for the Africa First Short Film Program in 2008, and the completed film has since screened at Sundance, Berlin and other festivals around the world in 2010. Jenna is currently developing debut feature film, Tok Tokkie, a sci-fi mystery set in Cape Town following a team of ghost welfare inspectors. The project was selected among 11 other features for the inaugural Durban FilmMart this year, where it was awarded the Hubert Bals Fund Award for most promising project. Production is set for early 2011. Jenna’s singular ambition is to create African and global feature films that can explode with an impact that not only shakes her own country, but the world at large.
